Chimney should be cleaned

According to the NFPA (National Fire Protection Associationchimneys should be cleaned at least once every year
  • The chimney sweep cleans chimneys, smoke ducts, flue pipes and fireplaces in order to prevent soot fires and gas emissions
  • Complete chimney cleaning includes a chimney and a smoke chamber.
  • Before cleaning, the chimney sweep checks the chimney according to cleaning standard Level 1. If he or she does not know what the inspection includes, feel free to refuse the service. Level 1 testing is detailed in NFPA.
Fireplace should be cleaned
According to the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA), fireplaces need to be cleaned once creosote reaches a thickness of 1/8 of an inch or there is a soot buildup inside the chimney liner.
Accumulation of creosote in a chimney negatively affects its power and efficiency. It is difficult to remove, and the thickness of the build-up hits the time and complexity of maintenance. Therefore, it is necessary to find a professional (certified) chimney sweep.

Chimney sweeping is considered the safest for the home and environment. It includes disposing of the build-up of soot from coal, wood, oil, and gasoline fire systems. Professional chimney sweepers have video devices that they use to scan the internal components of the chimney. They can identify cracks with the help of lights and a high-end camera.
The best way to maintain the chimney? Do you use chemicals?
Chimney maintenance is best done through annual inspection and mechanical cleaning. Inspection reveals hazardous-likely hidden problems. Mechanical sweeping removes layers of creosote from the chimney surface as well as the loose soot from the chimney or fireplace.
If a chimney developed a hard layer of creosote that cannot be removed by regular mechanical brushing a chemical product can be used. The product splits the tacky layer into a powdery substance. Which makes it easier to remove. We care about customer well-being, so that we always choose a mild non-chemical cleaners.
    CSIA Certified Chimney Technician
It’s important for the Chimney Sweep to be a (CSIA) Certified Chimney Technician. Green Ductors r technicians are all CSIA certified. Which means we follow levels of chimney inspection developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in its code NFPA 211, the Standard for Chimneys, Fireplaces, Vents, and Solid Fuel Burning Appliances.
